Her husband François-Henri wore a simple blue swimsuit, and he later put on a nondescript gray T-shirt, black sneakers, and black sunglasses. Salma and François-Henri announced their engagement back and later that year she welcomed her first child with him, their daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault.

The couple was later married on Valentine's Day 2009 in Paris, and she is now also the stepmother to his three children from previous relationships: son François and daughter Mathilde, from his previous marriage to Dorothée Lepère, and son Augustin James Evangelista, from his relationship with the supermodel Linda Evangelista.
